Configuring Player Brightness Control

OnSign allows you to manage screen brightness individually, in groups, or on a schedule. This is especially useful for outdoor displays, which may require higher brightness during the day and lower brightness at night.

To adjust the brightness of your screens, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Players tab.
  2. Click on the player you want to manage.
  3. Select Settings from the side menu.
  4. Scroll down to the Brightness Control section and enable it.

You can then configure:

  • Default Brightness
  • Mode (Software or Hardware)
  • Timeout
  1. To schedule brightness levels:
    1. Click Add Another to create a new rule.
    2. Set the time range for the desired brightness level.

You can create multiple schedules to apply different brightness levels throughout the day.

Brightness control is important for several reasons:

  • Improved visibility: Proper brightness ensures your content is easy to read. Screens that are too bright may cause glare, while screens that are too dim may not be visible.
  • Energy efficiency: Reducing brightness when full intensity is not needed can help lower energy consumption and operating costs.
  • Regulatory compliance: In some regions, there are limits on screen brightness—especially at night. Adjusting brightness helps ensure compliance with local regulations.
