Installing WiFi ADB

This step-by-step guide will walk you through how to connect a device to a computer using Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) over WiFi. In order to install the WiFi ADB apk on your device, you can either use a USB stick or directly download it to your device:

Using a USB Stick

  1. Download the WiFi ADB APK to your computer and transfer it to a thumb drive.
  2. Safely remove the thumb drive from your computer and connect it to your Android device.
  3. On your device, open ApkInstaller, File Manager or Explorer and select USB memory. The following screen will appear:

  1. In the directory, tap on the WiFi ADB apk to install it.

Using a Direct Download

  1. Download WiFI ADB directly to your Android device.
  2. Open the Files app, then navigate to Downloads. You will see the screen below:
  1. In the folder, tap wifi-adb-3-0-6.apk.

Finishing Installation

After completing either method, an installation dialog box will appear. Tap Install to complete the setup.

Once the installation is complete, you'll see WiFi ADB on your Android device (as shown in the image below).

  1. Open the WiFi ADB app, and it will display your device's IP address.
  1. On Windows, open PowerShell and enter .\adb.exe connect <IP adress>. If ADB isn’t installed on your computer yet, follow this tutorial to set it up.

That’s it! You can now enable or disable the WiFi ADB connection by tapping the green or gray dot on the app’s screen.

Attention!

Keeping the WiFi ADB connection active at all times poses a security risk — anyone on the same WiFi network who knows your device’s IP address could potentially connect to it. Make sure to disconnect after done with your ADB session.
