Adding logos or footer (mask)

A playback mask is a campaign that OnSign plays on top of every other campaign published to a player. Use it to keep a logo or footer visible on a player at all times, without adding that logo to each piece of content individually.

Important: The playback mask feature is available only on Pro and Enterprise plans.

A mask only needs to cover the part of the screen where the logo appears. Everywhere else on the mask campaign’s canvas stays transparent, so the player’s regular content shows through underneath. You can get that transparency in either of two ways: use an image with a transparent background on a Full Screen layout, or reserve just the logo’s area with a custom layout. This article covers both.

Create the mask campaign

  1. Go to Content, then click New to create a campaign.
  2. Name it so you can recognize it later, for example Campaign Mask.
  3. Under Screen Layout, select Full Screen. If you want to reserve only the logo’s area instead of using a transparent image, use a custom layout instead, described in the next section.
  1. From the content library at the bottom of the page, add your logo image to the timeline.
  2. Click Save. OnSign saves the campaign and shows a confirmation that it was not published to any player. You do not publish this campaign directly; you assign it as a mask in the next section.

Optional: reserve the logo’s area with a custom layout

If your logo image does not have a transparent background, reserve just its area instead:

  1. In Screen Layout, click Add Custom Layout.
  2. Set Device Orientation and Device Resolution to match the player’s screen.
  3. In the layout preview, resize the region to the area where the logo appears, or enter its position and size directly in the Screen Divisions table.
  1. Click Create Layout.

Apply this layout to the mask campaign instead of Full Screen. OnSign renders the campaign only within that region, so the rest of the canvas stays transparent.

Assign the campaign as a player’s mask

  1. Click the Players tab.
  2. Select the player you want to add the mask to.
  3. Click Settings in the menu on the left.
  4. Scroll down to the Campaign Playback Mask section.
  5. Click to open the Select Playback Mask Campaign dialog, select your mask campaign, and click Confirm.
  1. Click Save at the bottom of the page. Your playback will be updated to show the new configuration.

OnSign now displays the mask campaign on top of all content played on that player. To remove it, clear the Campaign Playback Mask setting from the player.
