Let your customers fully engage with the screens by creating interactive Campaigns.
This feature turns screen areas clickable, revealing further content or leading to another Campaign. By adding interactivity, clients are able to explore the Campaign’s content as they want, in the order they want to.
There are several use cases for interactivity on Campaigns. In a restaurant, for instance, a promotional ad banner can lead to further details, like price, conditions, applicable dates, and so forth, on the main screen.

To learn how to apply interactivity, try recreating the Campaign above by repeating the steps. Afterwards, you will be able to implement it with your own Campaign idea. Download the sample files, upload them to your account, and let's go!
- Create a new Campaign in your OnSign account. Select or create a two-zone layout.

- Place three images on the larger timeline 1. Drag two bar apps and the “promotion banner” to the bottom timeline 2.
The "more info promotion" image which you want to show when the patron clicks on the “promotion banner” will NOT be placed into the Campaign just yet.
- “Save" your Campaign.
- The page reloads. Select “Triggers and Interactivity” from the menu.

- Click the “Add Trigger” button on the top-right. A panel with all interaction settings will be displayed.
The interactivity setup follows the same pattern as shown in the Create a Key Press tutorial. For player app versions less than 10.0.0, use the legacy interactivity editor, shown further below in this tutorial.
- Name: It's optional to give a name to the trigger, but if you want to create several interactions, naming them makes it easier to know which setting does what.
-
When: What does the patron have to do to reveal the Tuesday Deal on the tablet? Choose Touch Region. A window will open where you choose the Touch Region 2. Close the window with “Select”.

- Action: Define what is going to happen when the patron clicked on the touch region. Choose Play. Now is the time we insert the "more info promotion" image.
-
Playing Loop: By default, the complete Playing Loop, or full screen, is selected. In our case, we want the bottom timeline to still be shown. Therefore, click on “Playing Loop”. A new window will open. Choose “Region 1” and confirm with the “Select” button.

- Restriction: This field works as a filter for the Action. If you select nothing, any time the patron clicks the defined screen area on the Campaign, the trigger event will happen. Change this to only trigger when the promotion banner is shown in Region 2.
- These are the settings you should have filled out.

- Name: more info
- When: Touch Region “Region 2”
- Action: Play “more info promotion.png” in “Region 1” for 20s
- Restrictions: Trigger only when Player is Playing “promotion banner.png” in “Region 2”
- Click on the check mark to the right.
- Click on “Publish” on the menu on the left. Publish the Campaign to a Player and test the interactivity.
Besides a Campaign, interactivity can also be set to an entire Player.
Legacy Interactivity Page for OnSign Player App versions prior to 10.0.0
For player app versions before 10.0.0, use the legacy interactivity editor. You will get there by clicking on the link at the bottom-right of the Triggers and Interactivity page:

Check out each field's function of the interactivity rules:

- Name: If you want to allow several interactions, naming them makes it easier to know which setting does what.
- What: Define what the audience has to do in order to reveal the content. It can be either touching the screen, pressing a key, an API command, or simply a previous content timing out.
- Which one: Specify which region of the Screen Layout the person needs to click to trigger the action. If you choose to trigger the Campaign by pressing a key, define which key will do it.
-
Action: Define what is going to happen when the person interacts with the screen. You can either Play another Campaign or a Playlist or Replace a screen zone with another media item or App, not a Campaign or Playlist. In both cases, you need to choose a destination.
Important: The content will be downloaded automatically to the Player. No need to publish it separately. - Destination: For the Action "Replace", set where on screen the content will be shown. For the Action "Play", choose which Campaign or Playlist will play next.
- When playing: This field works as a filter for the Action. If you keep “any media”, any time you click the defined screen area, the Action will be carried out (a Campaign playing or a file appearing in the area you set as Destination). Change this field if you want the action to be performed only when a specific media is playing.
- With media: This field is only active for the "Replace" Action. Select the file or App which should appear in the Destination after the interaction. You can choose any media format or App.
- For this tutorial's purpose, fill out the settings as shown below:

- Name: Promotion
- What: Touch region
- Which one: Region 2
- Action: Replace
- Destination: Region 1
- When playing: promotion banner.png
- With media: more info promotion.png
- Duration: 30s
- Click on the check mark to the right and then hit “Save”.
- Click on “Publish” on the menu on the left. Publish the Campaign to a Player and test the interactivity.
