How to install an SPM (Signage Platform Module) to allow remote commands on Sony Bravia devices.
With this SPM you can remotely update your player app, as well as remotely reboot the device. Remote view, however is not supported on Sony Bravia with this SPM.
- Copy the .pkg file to a USB flash drive and insert the drive into the display.
Download the package here. - If this device has already been in use, perform a Factory reset. This step is not required for a new display being unboxed.
To perform a Factory reset on the display go to Settings/System/About/Reset/Factory Data Reset and choose “Erase everything”.
• The display will begin a Factory reset within 15 seconds. The display will reboot as part of the reset process.
• The initial setup process will start. The first screen shown is a list of languages to choose from. Do not start the initial setup process yet.
- The display will recognize the .pkg file on the inserted USB drive and present the package install page.
Choose “Install” to install the Device Owner package and follow the on-screen instructions.
- The package will install and the TV will open with an “Activation” screen.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and choose “Activate this device admin app”.
- A message “The install is complete.” will be shown. Remove the USB drive and select OK as instructed.
- The display will return to the first of the initial setup screens.
Now, complete the initial setup process, but DO NOT sign in with a Google account. Please skip this sign-in step.
Note: Permission requests will be shown on screen before or during the installation step.
