NovaStar Taurus (Android)

The NovaStar Taurus series is a family of Android-powered players designed to take control LED panels.

Follow this tutorial to install OnSign on Taurus:

  • TB30
  • TB40
  • TB50
  • TB60

SPM: Download the OnSign SPM Plugin for Rockchip which includes the Taurus series (available here). Then, follow the process to install the OnSign Player app onto the Taurus device.

 

The SPM plugin is required to enable OnSign Advanced features like:

  • Live Remote View
  • Remote OnSign App Update
  • Scheduled Reboot
  • Remote Reboot

Installing OnSign on Taurus TB series (Android Powered)

  1. Configure the Taurus device using ViPlex Handy or ViPlex Express following NovaStar's official instructions. Download ViPlex Express here. If the download doesn't start automatically, copy and paste the URL into your browser's address bar.
  2. Make sure the Taurus device is on the same network as the Windows PC used to configure it.
  3. In order to install OnSign on the Taurus you will need to use ViPlex Express on Windows.
  1. Download the latest OnSign TV apk version from https://onsign.tv/downloads/ and save it.
  2. Double click on the ViPlex Express icon.
  1. Once the application is open, type 'novasoft'. This will open a hidden option called “User Software”.
  1. Select "User Software", the Taurus device on the column on the left, and click connect:
  1. Type the user and password. Default user is 'admin' default password is ‘123456’.
  2. Once the device is connected, it will show with a green connection icon:
  1. Click on the device, disable the "PlayService" option. This will disable the internal Novastar media player.
  1. In the software list, choose the download OnSign apk and click install. Make sure to select "Auto launch on startup" and “Automatically run after installation”.
  1. This process will take several minutes. Once this process is complete, click on the "Restart Now" button.
  2. After reboot, OnSign TV will be running on the device and can be paired to your account.

SPM

For NovaStar devices, use the Rockchip SPM from the SPM download page.

After installing the SPM, make sure that the device is connected to the network and restart it, checking that OnSign is connected.
