Do you display digital signage on an UltraWide monitor, Video Wall, or any other non-standard proportion device? Custom layout is what you need.
Note, this feature does not force your device to output in a specific resolution, but it helps you design your content in the resolution your player is already in. How to set your player to a different resolution depends on the operating system you use. Check out the Players section for guidance on a particular operating system.
This option is part of the Custom Layout settings in your Campaign Editor. If you don’t know yet how to create screen layouts, adding screen divisions, and changing from landscape to portrait mode, check out this tutorial.
In this tutorial we are going to learn how to set a custom resolution:
- In your OnSign TV account, edit an existing Campaign or create a new one. Click on “Add Custom Layout” in the header of the Screen Layout section.
- Set a Device Orientation and click on “Device Resolution”. Select “Custom”, the last option from the list.
- Write your resolution in the text boxes. In this tutorial, we match the resolution to the size of a two monitor video wall placed side by side in landscape mode. The first screen is 1920 x 1080 and the second is 1366 x 768. We need to add the two widths together and take the taller height of the two. This will give us our result: 3286 x 1080.
- Adjust the divisions to the new layout and confirm with "Create Layout".
- Now you can start adding Content to your Campaign with Custom Layout.
TIP: Keep in mind that depending on your video wall configuration, images may get distorted. Always use content which matches your screen resolution, like this one. The black rectangular is the second screen being shorter than the first.
