Multiple OnSign Player instances on a single device – Windows

In certain scenarios, it may be useful to install and run multiple Player instances on the same hardware, e.g.:

  • On a Windows player with multiple video output cards, allowing to run fully independent Player instances for each output.
  • Large LED panels where different Players are assigned to different screen regions.
  • Situations requiring more than the 10 screen region limit.

In this step-by-step guide, you'll learn how to install multiple instances of Players on Windows. Each Player instance runs fully independently on the same Windows machine. Up to 4 instances can be installed per device.

💡Tip

Check system requirements: Ensure your Windows device meets the minimum CPU, RAM, and GPU requirements to smoothly run multiple OnSign Player instances simultaneously on the same Windows machine.

  1. Download the latest OnSign player, then run the executable file.
  2. In the setup installer, click Advanced in the bottom-left corner.

Here’s an example of four players running on the same Windows PC. Simply drag and drop each player window to adjust its position and size according to your preference.

Each installed OnSign Player instance must be assigned to a separate OnSign Player license and operates as an independent entity.

Every installed instance is isolated and managed separately by the Windows operating system. This also means that when a Player upgrade is required, each instance must be upgraded individually. Similarly, any instance can be uninstalled using the Windows “Add or Remove Programs” feature.

Important notes

  • This feature is available only on OnSign Player for Windows version 10.6.11 or later.
  • You can install up to four OnSign Player instances on a single Windows machine.
  • These instances can be added to a Sync Group to display synchronized content across all players.
