Additional Trigger Settings

The most basic trigger settings are “When” to trigger and the “Action” that should happen. Let's get to know the more advanced trigger settings such as the selecting the playing loop, content settings, trigger restrictions, and more.

Play in Playing Loop

In the “Action” row you set where a triggered content should play. By default it plays on the Playing Loop, the entire screen. If you click on the Playing Loop bubble, a window will open.

There is a distinction whether the trigger is set on a Player or in a Campaign. Therefore, let's take the example of a trigger on a Campaign with two regions.

trigger playing loop regions

For a trigger on a Player you will only see the options Playing Loop and Named Region. If the trigger is set in a Campaign, you can choose between all available regions of the Campaign, that means Region 1 and Region 2 in the example above. We choose Region 1, so that the clock in the corner remains visible.

Named Regions are previously named screen divisions in a custom layout

Content Settings

With the Gear icon in the “Action” row, a window full of content settings will open up:

  • Duration: This is how long the triggered content should play. It applies primarily to content which does not have an inherent duration such as images, Apps, and Compositions.
  • Repeat: Should the triggered content only play once and then revert to the Primary Content Loop or do you want to repeat the content more than once. For indefinite repetitions until another content is triggered, insert 0 (zero). The repetitions will end at midnight of the day.
  • Transitions: Animate how the triggered content should come in, e.g. as a fade in or slide in. See this tutorial for details on transitions.
  • Aspect Ratio: Applies to images and videos. Details in this tutorial.
  • Volume: Set the volume of the triggered content if it has audio. Applies to videos or audio files.
  • Other Media Volume: As you can set the volume of the triggered content, you can also set the audio of other media which may still play at the same time, for example on the Audio Loop. Applies to videos or audio files. Details in the audio ducking tutorial.

Multiple Actions

You can add another Action by clicking on the + button at the end of the Action settings just created.

Trigger Restrictions

In the same way you can restrict content to play, you can also add restrict when this trigger should be active. For example only during a specific period of time.

Lastly, there are three switches you can turn on as needed: pause the trigger, propagate to other triggers, and play on top of playing loop.

Pause this trigger

Pausing a trigger is self-explanatory. Pause a trigger when you might want to use it at a later point in time so that you don't have to erase the settings.

Propagate to other triggers

Once a trigger is triggered, the platform stops trying to trigger other triggers at the same time. Let's say you have two touch triggers with an overlapping touch area. Usually you only want one of them to trigger. That's the default behavior.

If you want both to trigger, turn on the "Propagate to other triggers" option. This option means that once a trigger is triggered, the player will keep checking to see if more triggers can be triggered by the same event.

Play on top of playing loop

When turning on this option, the current content loop will not be interrupted. The triggered content will play on top of it. Once the triggered content has finished, the content loop underneath will continue playing.
