Disable Android Play Store auto update

Learn how to stop automatic updates on the Android Play Store to have more control over which apps are updated and when.

On some Android devices, the Google Play Store may automatically update internal system components, such as the Android WebView. To prevent potential compatibility issues, we recommend disabling automatic updates in the Play Store. This tutorial will guide you through the steps to do so.

  1. Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture in the upper-right corner.
  1. A new window will appear. Select Settings.
  1. Next, tap Network Preferences, then choose Auto-update apps.
  1. Finally, check the box for “Don’t auto-update apps.
