Factory Reset and Configuration of a Samsung Device

This guide explains how to perform a factory reset on a Samsung Android device and configure it for use with OnSign. Following these steps ensures a clean installation and minimizes interference from previous settings or background services.

A factory reset is recommended before deploying a device as an OnSign player to ensure maximum compatibility and reliable operation.

Important: Before performing a factory reset, back up any important data stored on the device. This process permanently erases all user data.

 

Step 1 — Factory Reset the Device

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Navigate to General Management > Reset > Factory Data Reset.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Confirm by selecting Delete All.

The device will restart and launch the initial setup wizard.


Step 2 — Accept the License Agreement and Configure Wi-Fi

  1. Accept only the End User License Agreement (EULA).
  2. Leave all optional agreements unchecked.
  3. Tap Next.

On the Quick Setup screen:

  1. Tap Set up manually.
  1. Select your Wi-Fi network.
  2. Enter the network password.
  3. Tap Next.

Step 3 — Skip Data Transfer and Google Account Setup

On the data transfer screen:

  1. Tap Don't copy.

Important: Ensure that no Google account is associated with the device. If a Google account remains configured, the OnSign installation process may not function correctly.

 

On the Google sign-in screen:

  1. Tap Skip.
  1. Confirm by selecting Skip again.

Step 4 — Configure Google Services and Screen Lock

On the Google Services screen:

  1. Disable all optional Google services.
  2. Tap Accept.

On the device protection screen:

  1. Configure a screen lock if required, or
  2. Tap Skip, then confirm by selecting Skip anyway.

On the Review Additional Apps screen:

  1. Do not select any applications.
  2. Tap OK.

Step 5 — Skip Samsung Services

On the Samsung Account screen:

  1. Tap Forgot password or don't have an account?
  1. Select Set up later.
  2. Tap Skip.

 

On the Samsung Legal Information screen:

  1. Tap Skip.

Step 6 — Disable Samsung Services

On the Samsung Services screen:

  1. Disable the following options:
  • Auto Blocker
  • Customization Service
  • Smart Suggestions
  1. Tap Agree.

On the Recommended Apps screen:

  1. Do not select any applications.
  2. Tap Next.

Note: Disabling all optional Google and Samsung services minimizes background activity and helps ensure optimal performance of the OnSign player.
