Samsung Kiosk - Installing SPM

Enable remote view, scheduled reboots and kiosk mode on Samsung Android Devices.

OnSign has developed a special package called Signage Platform Manager (SPM). Its important to note, that we OnSign provide a specific and dedicated SPM for each vendor, and sometimes different models may also require a different SPM version.

This tutorial covers the details for installing the SPM on Samsung Android devices. Once the SPM is correctly installed it will unlock advanced features such as:
    •    Remote screen view and device control
    •    Scheduled and remote device reboots
    •    Locking the device into Kiosk Mode

Follow these steps for installing the OnSign SPM on Samsung devices:

  1. Download  the SPM Package by clicking here.
  2. Install the SPM - When installing the SPM APK, you may get a prompt of an “Unsafe App”, this happens as this app act directly on the Android OS. Just click on “More details” and “Install anyway
  3. Activate the Knox license - Launch the SPM app and press the OK button when prompted to activate the Knox license.
  4.  Set a Lock password in OnSign - Log in to your OnSign account, navigate to the device’s player settings, and configure the Lock password. This password will be required to exit Kiosk mode. If no password is configured, the device the Kiosk mode will not be activated!
  1. Sync the player - Let the player synchronize to download the latest content and updated settings.
  2. Reboot or restart the app - Restart the device or fully close and relaunch the OnSign Player app to apply the password lock.

Once these steps are completed, the device will be securely locked into Kiosk mode using OnSign and Samsung’s Knox platform.
