How to exit the OnSign app on Tizen

When OnSign is running on a Samsung Tizen player, it operates in full-screen mode to provide uninterrupted playback of your digital signage content. During maintenance or troubleshooting, you may need to temporarily exit the application and return to the Tizen home screen.

This article explains how to exit the OnSign app using the Samsung remote control.

Requirements

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • A Samsung display or TV running the Tizen operating system
  • The Samsung remote control paired with the device
  • Physical access to the display

Important — "Disable TV Remote" Setting

Before attempting to exit the application, verify that the Disable TV Remote option is disabled in the player's settings within the OnSign platform. When this option is enabled, the remote control is completely locked while the OnSign app is running, and no remote buttons will respond.

To verify this setting:

  1. Open the OnSign platform.
  2. Select the desired player.
  3. Navigate to Player Settings.
  4. Ensure that Disable TV Remote is unchecked.

Important: If this option is enabled and you cannot control the display with the remote, disable it remotely from the OnSign platform before continuing

  1. Point the Samsung remote control at the display and press the Home button.

The Tizen Home menu will appear on top of the OnSign application.

  1. Press the Exit button on the remote control.

The OnSign application will close, returning you to the Samsung Tizen home screen.

Troubleshooting

  • The remote control does not respond: Verify that Disable TV Remote is disabled in the player's settings on the OnSign TV platform.
  • The remote control still does not respond: Check or replace the remote control batteries.
  • The remote control works on other Samsung devices but not on this display: Verify that the remote is properly paired with the device and that there are no hardware issues with the display's infrared or Bluetooth receiver.
