When installing the OnSign Player and SPM on a NovaStar Taurus LED panel, the pairing code may not appear when the panel starts. This can result in a black screen, a blue screen displaying the OnSign logo, or a pairing code that appears briefly and then disappears.
These symptoms are generally caused by one of two issues: an internet connectivity problem on the player or the LED panel's resolution being too low to display the complete pairing code.
Note: If the pairing code was displayed previously and then disappeared, this is expected behavior. For security reasons, OnSign automatically hides the pairing code after a short period of inactivity. Connect a USB mouse to the Taurus device and click the background to display the pairing code again before proceeding with the steps below.
Internet Connection Issues
A black screen without a pairing code, or a blue screen displaying the OnSign logo instead of the code, usually indicates that the Player does not have an active internet connection.
- Confirm that the Player is connected to the internet. The pairing code will not be displayed while the Player is offline.
-
Check the network connection directly on the Taurus device if a blue screen with the OnSign logo appears instead of the pairing code:
- Connect a keyboard and mouse to the Taurus device.
- Right-click the screen.
- Close the OnSign Player application.
- Open the device's network settings and verify the internet connection.

Black LED Panel
The LED panel can only display the portion of the Player's image buffer that corresponds to its physical resolution. If the Player outputs an image at a higher resolution than the panel can display, parts of the screen—including the pairing code—may fall outside the visible area.
For example, if the panel has a physical resolution of 400 × 400 pixels but the Player outputs 1920 × 1080, the panel displays only a portion of the larger image. As a result, the pairing code may be rendered outside the visible area.
In other words, the panel can only display the number of pixels supported by its physical resolution. A lower-resolution panel receiving a higher-resolution output may therefore show only a section of the Player's screen.
Note: When the Player is configured for a 1920 × 1080 px output, OnSign displays the pairing code in all four corners of the screen. Therefore, the code should be visible in at least one corner if the panel displays the corresponding areas of the output.

How to Solve This
To determine whether the pairing code is being rendered outside the panel's visible area, capture the complete image buffer of the Taurus Player using ViPlex Express. If the pairing code is visible in the screenshot but not on the physical panel, the Player's configured resolution is likely higher than the panel's physical resolution.
In this case, adjust the Player's output resolution to match the panel's actual physical resolution.
- Open ViPlex Express, the application used to install the OnSign Player and SPM on the Taurus panel.
- On the Screens tab, select the Taurus panel from the list and click Control.

- In the Control menu, click Playback Management.

- Select the Taurus panel from the list on the left and click View Screenshot to capture the Player's complete image buffer.

- Check the screenshot to determine whether the pairing code is present. If the code appears in an area that is outside the panel's physical resolution, change the Player's configured resolution to match the panel's actual resolution.
This ensures that the entire OnSign interface, including the pairing code, is rendered within the visible area of the LED panel.
